Where To Find The Best Views Of Hanoi City In Vietnam

Last Updated: December 6 2020

The Observation deck is located at the Lotte tower which is around 3.5km from Hanoi’s famous train street. It is around 250m high, and gives incredible views over the city centre. It is also the first ever sky walk to be built in Southeast Asia and gives you the best views of Hanoi City.

How to get there:

We took a Grab to the Lotte tower, as it was only a short drive. It is found in the Lotte Centre just outside the middle of town.

To get to the ticket office you have to go through the shopping centre and head to B1. That is where the ticket office is located. After paying for the ticket, you then take an elevator to the 65th floor. The elevator has funky lights and only takes around 50 seconds, which is pretty cool.

Ticket Price:

The ticket price for the observation deck costs vary depending whether you are a Vietnamese citizen or a tourist. For tourists the cost is 230,000 VND for adults (about £7.70) and 170,000 VND (about £5.70) for children between the ages of 3-12. Any children below the age of 3 go up for free.

However if you arrive at the ticket office between 9am-10am there is a 50% reduction on tickets. Therefore we ended up paying 230,000 VND  for our both our tickets as it cost us 115,000 VND each (about £3.85). Definitely something to think about if you are travelling on a budget.

This was the case at the time of writing, but make sure you check online to see if the discount time changes. On the website it also states that there is a 50% reduction on ticket prices between 10-11pm which will give you a view of all the city lights.

For Vietnamese citizens the prices are obviously lower, with it being 180,000 VND (about £6) for adults and 120,000 VND (about £4) for children.

When you get to the top:

There are two areas of the observation deck which have glass bottom floors and walls. You can walk upon them as long as you take your shoes off, and it gives you views of the city below. This part can be a bit unnerving haha as it is so high up but it is definitely an experience! The Lotte tower offers a 360 degree view of the city, with the deck looping around. This is why the observation deck has the best views of Hanoi City.

We travelled through Vietnam during wet season so the views were quite foggy. However, on a clear day the views would be incredible and you would probably be able to see the whole of Hanoi.

Apart from the views, there is plenty to do at the observation deck. There are a few places to eat including Lotteria and a little café that specialises in deserts such as waffles. There is also a souvenier shop and photo counter to have a look at. The Observation Deck also has plenty of seats located at the observation deck so you can just sit and admire the view.

Even if you are afraid of heights it is definitely worth the trip. Me and Jack are both wary of heights but we found it to be a great experience! It really does offer the best views of Hanoi.

We arrived at the ticket office around 9:45am, grabbed our tickets and headed up. Due to the time we got there, there were hardly any people up there. This meant we could take as long as we wanted to take photos, which was great!

Thank you for reading this post! We hope this encouraged you to visit the Lotte Tower whilst staying in Hanoi. If you are looking for information on our other favourite city in Vietnam – Ho Chi Minh City, click here.
