The Best Budget Airline In Asia

Last Updated: August 17 2019

Whilst travelling Asia we managed to find ourselves an Airline company that we absolutely love and always try to fly with thanks to their amazing service and cheap prices. We have found them to be the best budget airline in Asia!

It can often be a great challenge trying to find the cheapest flight. Like us you probably spend a lot of time looking through the likes of Skyscanner to see who gives the best rates. The problem we always find is that a lot of airlines give a brilliant price, to find it then go’s up as you proceed through checkout. They add on extra for your seat,  extra for a bag, extra for your meal and then add a lovely processing fee at the end just as you are paying. A flight ticket can easily go up by £40 in no time at all.

This for us was a big problem because like anybody we wanted to keep our transport costs as low as possible so we could travel for longer. Luckily spending lots of time scrolling and scrolling through pages of flights finally led to us finding an airline that we have found to be super reliable and 9/10 the cheapest option out there.

The Airline:

The airline we honestly consider to be the best we have flown with, never mind just the cheapest is Malindo Air. Malindo Air operate throughout Asia also running the Batik Air and Lion Air. The first time we decided to fly with them was on a flight from Hanoi to Kuala Lumpur. We had never heard of them before and some reviews were very poor, making us skeptical. One reason we decided to fly with them anyway was because other airlines like Air Asia had poor reviews, but we had used them before and had no issues. However the main reason we decided to fly with Malindo Air is because the flight cost us so much less and included all the extras with no added cost.

If we had booked this flight for the two of us with Air Asia without any extras it would have cost £129. With the costs for seats, bag cost, meal and processing fee that Air Asia then add on it would have cost £170. The price we actually paid by flying with Malindo Air was £137. This included our seats, bags and meals. Therefore we saved £33 on one flight and didn’t have to worry about extra add on costs. The price we were quoted was the price we paid.

Is Malindo Air Worth It?

We were slightly dubious of Malindo Air when we booked our first tickets because we had never heard of them and the price seemed way to good to be true. However since the very first time we flew with them, they are the only company we have flown with if possible. The only time we haven’t used this airline is if they have no seats left or no flights available.

As of writing this we have flown with Malindo 5 times and have one more flight booked with them. This is quite a lot of flights considering we have only flown 8 times so far. Every flight has been superb. Not one flight has been delayed, check in has been completely hassle free, the staff have been wonderful and the food/on board entertainment is great.

In all honesty even if there was a flight where Malindo Air were slightly more expensive than other companies, we would probably still use them because they are so reliable and always provide excellent customer service.

Savings and Quality:

Savings and quality are definitely the the two most important things we look for when booking flights. To find an airline like Malindo Air that constantly provide us with great savings and brilliant quality in terms of flight experience is great. As a couple that aren’t too keen on being so high in the sky or waiting at airports, we have started to enjoy flying as airport hassle is non existent.

We recommend everybody travelling Asia to consider booking with Malindo Air because they are so good and will save you lots of extra money for that Bintang binge in Bali or Turtle diving trip in the Philippines. We truly believe they are the best budget airline in Asia.

Thank you so much for reading! This post was written to simply give those who like us didn’t know about Malindo Air and to give you another way of saving some pennies whilst travelling through Asia. We really hope this helps when you are looking for your next adventure and a good cheap flight.

P.S we would love to hear any experiences you have when it comes to saving money on flights so please drop a comment below to share with everyone else!

Thanks,

Jack & Abbie
